Best Things to Do in the Cayman Islands

    by Miguel Gluton May 2, 2018July 17, 2018
    written by Miguel Gluton

Have you figured out where you plan to spend your vacation? If you’re looking for a tropical paradise where you can relax, you should look no further than a country in the Caribbean region known as the Cayman Islands. With three islands to choose from, there’s no shortage of best things for you to do there. However, if you aren’t down to explore Cayman Brac or Little Cayman, here are the top ten things to do in Grand Cayman instead:

    1. Take a swim at Seven Mile Beach.

Its actual number of miles may only be roughly six, but Seven Mile Beach won’t disappoint you at all with its moon-shaped shore and fine sand.

    2. Get up close and personal with stingrays at Stingray City.

The stingray may have earned an ill reputation for being a dangerous marine creature, especially after it had taken the life of a well-known TV personality. However, that shouldn’t deter you from booking a trip to Stingray City. You can pet the stingrays there with the help of a trained professional.

    3. Explore the wonders of the Cayman Crystal Caves.

A relatively new tourist destination, the Cayman Crystal Caves has existed for hundreds of years and has since been home to magnificent crystal stalactites and stalagmites.

    4. Feast your eyes over various marine creatures at Eden Rock and Devil’s Grotto.

If Stingray City isn’t enough for your aquatic adventure, you can snorkel your way to Eden Rock and Devil’s Grotto. You’d be surprised at the marine biodiversity in those two underwater rock formations.

    5. Hike your way along Mastic Trail.

If you want to explore the fauna and flora that the Cayman Islands has to offer, you’ll have to wear your hiking boots and carry a backpack with you as you make your way along Mastic Trail with the help of a local guide.

    6. Go to Hell – the tourist attraction, that is.

If you told anyone that you’ve been to Hell and back, chances are people might doubt your claim. Not so if you explain to them that the Hell you’re referring to is a place in Grand Cayman that has jagged black limestone formations all over it.

    7. Learn about the history of the Cayman Islands itself at Pedro’s Castle.

What good would your Cayman Islands vacation be if you won’t be able to take away a crash course about its history? Pedro’s Castle serves as a reminder of how democracy came to be in the Cayman Islands.

    8. Come out of your shell at Cayman Turtle Farm.

The Cayman Islands used to have an abundance of green sea turtles. Unfortunately, the said species of turtle now has an endangered status. By visiting Cayman Turtle Farm, you can learn more about the plight of the green sea turtle and how locals are preserving its surviving population.

    9. Dive into the remains of the USS Kittiwake.

Originally used as a submarine rescue ship, the USS Kittiwake was decommissioned by the United States government and then sunk beneath the ocean of Grand Cayman. The said marine vessel now serves as an artificial reef where marine creatures can reside.

    10. Satisfy your hunger at Camana Bay.

If all of the things that you can do in the Cayman Islands got you craving for food, you could take a stab at some of the native dishes that the said country has to offer by dining at any of the restaurants in Camana Bay. You can take a “Flavour Tour” so that you can experience authentic Caribbean cuisine at its finest.

More than two million tourists had visited the Cayman Islands last 2017 which speaks volumes about its popularity as a vacation destination. After all, nothing says tropical paradise more than the Cayman Islands with its plenty of best things for tourists like you to do. But as exploring its two smaller islands – namely, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman – might not be your thing, the above-listed things to do on the main island of Grand Cayman should suffice. Besides, what should ultimately matter is that you had a wonderful time visiting the Cayman
